Join us on a botanical adventure in Glen Canyon Park, one of San Francisco’s wild gems, to enjoy a beautiful educational hike through the grasslands, coastal scrub, and riparian habitat of Islais Creek.
Along the way we’ll explore the native, edible and medicinal plants that grow abundantly among these diverse ecological communities. We’ll discuss basic botany, identification tips, plant families, and other fun tidbits of natural knowledge. We might even catch a hawk's-eye-view from a high point over the varied species of the canyon!
What to Bring:
- Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle. Snacks and notebooks are optional.
Where We’ll Meet:
- We will meet at the Glen Park Recreation Center, 70 Elk Street in San Francisco, CA 94131. The park is accessible by public transportation.
SPACES ARE LIMITED FOR THIS SPECIAL CLASS!
*ADA Compliance: Glen Canyon Park has some narrow paths, steps, and tree limbs to navigate through and, therefore, is not ADA compliant. We are working though to find accessible spaces for future plant walks.
*COVID Protocols. As the event is outdoors, masks are optional, and the teacher will be unmasked. Please do not come if you are feeling unwell. Thank you!
