IN-PERSON: Radiant Botanical Beauty for Black Skin and Hair with Shereel Washington

In this class, we'll explore plants like (Aloe, Garden Sage, Rosemary, Calendula, Witch Hazel) and other natural compounds (Shea Butter and Animal Fats) that support African American skin and hair types.

There'll be a demo on how to infuse Fats with herbs to moisturize the hair and make a hair oil to support and encourage hair growth.

 💭 A word from the teacher Shereel: You might be asking yourself what does this workshop have to do with me? I don't have hair problems, or I'm not Black. None of that matters. This workshop is for EVERYONE to learn about the unique attributes of Black skin and hair, the two things that separate Black people from so many other ethnic groups. Black Hair & Skin are not only identity markers, they also symbols of resilence, strength, power and of course BEAUTY. So come learn how simple herbal remedies can promote and sustain the health and vitality of Black skin and hair. JOIN US and become part of promoting Black Self Love & Care

This class will be live in-person at The Scarlet Sage Herb Co., 1193 Valencia Street, San Francisco, CA 94110.

Shereel Washington graduated from the California School of Herbal Studies, Forestville, CA in the Community Herbalist Program as a Clinical Herbalist and earned certificates in Body Systems, and Herbal Crafting. She has completed over 1200 hours of herbal craft making training. Shereel is an instructor at Berkeley Herbal Center, Scarlet Sage's Community Classes & in the Land of Verse Apprentice Herbal Certification Program, . She also teaches at the Northern California Women’s Herbal Symposium at Black Oak Ranch, Mendocino. Shereel is also a speaker and was a guest panelist for the Sonoma County Herb Exchange Live Virtual Panel: “Honoring The Roots” in 2020. In 2019, she was guest speaker for Naomi Love’s: Wise Womb Way Virtual Symposium and a two time panelist on the Women of Color: “Do You Walk In Our Shoes'' at The Fall 2018 and Spring 2020 Northern California Women’s Herbal Symposium. In addition, Shereel teaches dance and Qigong at the Deep Root Center for Spiritual Studies MOVE: Spirit & Rhythm Dance Program in Oakland, CA.

Out of respect for our teachers, we kindly ask you to cancel at least 24 hours in advance, as the seating for our classes is very limited. If you should have to cancel your registration, notification in writing should be sent by email. Please make sure you state your name and the name of the class in your email.

- An event credit in the amount of the original purchase price will be issued for cancellations received 24 hours prior to the start of the event. Please contact us by email to register for another class of your choice. Event credit is available for a period of six months - according to availability.

- No event credit will be issued for cancellations received within 24 hours of the event, nor failure to attend.

ADA Compliance: 
Our Wellness Space and School of Traditional Healing Arts is located below Scarlet Sage, and is not ADA compliant; you will need to walk down 15 stairs to access the classroom and the Wellness Space. Please let us know if you need help walking into the space. We apologize for the inconvenience.
