Limpia - Spiritual Cleansings with Napaquetzalli Guadalupe Martinez

Limpia - Spiritual Cleansings with Napaquetzalli Guadalupe Martinez

Limpias are an ancient spiritual practice used in many cultures indigenous to this continent, especially in Mexican curanderismo/folk medicine.

Napa grew up surrounded by friends and family who shared the wisdom of ritual and plants, and has continued to study from teachers and elders from the US and Mexico.

Limpias are spiritual cleansings done with fresh plants and flowers, along with the power of prayer and intention. We traditionally use limpias to heal from emotional and spiritual imbalances,

also after acute shock and trauma to support the spirit and emotional body. Limpias can help us during any major life transitions, to help shed stagnant energy and to call in healing and clarity.

During a limpia, the healer facilitates a space to delve to the root of the imbalance, to liberate the individual and ground them in the present.

It is a beautiful process that helps one release emotions in a safe space with the guidance of plants and ancestors.

*Before a session: Make sure to dress comfortably, and it is suggested to make time for rest and integration afterwards.

About Napaquetzalli Guadalupe Martinez (Apache/Yaqui)

She is a co-founder of Curanderas Sin Fronteras, a collective that provides spiritual and herbal support for the Bay Area Latinx community and also works as an herbalist at the Scarlet Sage Herb Co. in SF Mission District.

Her practice is rooted in helping others reconnect to ancestral and intuitive knowledge, as well as decolonizing our relationships to the earth, our bodies, and each other.
