Lime, Sweet

Sweet lime has the unmistakable bright sunny citrus scent of lime. Lime essential oil comes from common limes which are used in cooking, drinks and more. It has a bright uplifting scent evoking a joy and soothing away anxiety and depression. It has calming properties as well making it suitable for use in blends for relaxation, sleep, and stress reduction. This mouthwatering essential oil is great for use in homemade soaps, lotions and other body care products to add a unique fresh scent.

Lime is delicious and brings to mind all the wonderful drinks and foods flavored with limes. The essential oil can be used in drinks and food for flavoring in much the same way as lemon essential oil. Using 1-2 drops of lime essential oil in limeade enhances the lime flavor. A couple drops of lime essential oil in a pot of Thai coconut soup; delicious. When used for food flavoring it is advisable to consume no more than 7 drops a day.

Lime in non-toxic, but like other citrus oils used directly on the skin is NOT RECCOMENDED. DILUTE Lime to a 2-5% concentration in a carrier for use on the skin. Lime causes photosensitivity. This means when you apply it undiluted and go out into the sun, the sun may cause a burn that can scar. Please do not apply lime essential oil to sunscreens or apply to the skin within 4-8 hours of direct prolonged sun exposure.
