In this natural perfumery workshop, students will explore the foundations of fragrance structure, scent and material families, and the craft of natural perfume making with Mauricio Garcia of Herbcraft Perfumery.

Students will leave the class with an understanding of the differences between perfume mediums, fragrance materials, scent ideation and evaluation. After discussing and experiencing essential oils and absolutes from Mauricio’s workbench, students will design their own fragrance under the instructor’s guidance.

About the teacher

Mauricio Garcia is a perfumer, creative director, certified aromatherapist and practitioner of traditional witchcraft based in San Francisco. His fascination with the botanical world began in his Abuela’s small, yet flourishing garden in foggy South San Francisco.

Through Herbcraft Perfumery, Mauricio teaches classes on natural perfumery and medical aromatherapy, as well as formulates bespoke enchantments and fragrances for individuals and indie product lines. The union of the material and spirit worlds is the heart of Herbcraft— a crossroads of alchemy and spirit work.

Mauricio also gives talks and workshops on ‘fragrant witchcraft,’ the use of botanical materials in magic and ritual, and the exploration of the relationship between practitioner, plant spirits and botanical geniuses.

Cancellation Policy

Out of respect for our teachers, we kindly ask you to cancel at least 24 hours in advance, as the seating for our classes is very limited. If you should have to cancel your registration, notification in writing should be sent by email. Please make sure you state your name and the name of the class in your email.

- An event credit in the amount of the original purchase price will be issued for cancellations received 24 hours prior to the start of the event. Please contact us by email to register for another class of your choice. Event credit is available for a period of six months - according to availability.

- No event credit will be issued for cancellations received within 24 hours of the event, nor failure to attend.

ADA Compliance

Our Wellness Space and School of Traditional Healing Arts is located below Scarlet Sage, and is not ADA compliant; you will need to walk down 15 stairs to access the classroom and the Wellness Space. Please let us know if you need help walking into the space. We apologize for the inconvenience.
