Amplify Your Plant Medicine: Grow Your Own Prolific Healing Garden with Chakayla Taylor - November 18th, 3 - 4:30PM PT

Let Thy Food Be Thy Medicine, Thy Nourishment, and Thy Guide

In this workshop, Chakayla Taylor explores one of the most organic ways to engage ancient, intentional, seasonal living: planning and tending your own healing garden.

The garden is a sacred, living, customizable template. Chakayla guides students in how to properly plan their garden to unlock the purpose of their unique space according to their intentions and needs.

Students receive resources like a layout guide and worksheets to help them follow through with planning an English-style garden with herbs, vegetables, fruits, flowers, and perennials plants all in one bed.

Topics also include companion planting, biodiversity, and hugelkultur to build healthy soil (all with endless heaps of ancestral magic).

“Growing a little human during the spring and summer gardening seasons made me a believer in my ancestral wisdom and gifts. In the words of my elders, 'She is touched by God.'” -Chakayla Taylor
Inspired by the vibrant moments of my childhood, I have proudly started The Power Plate, a spice goods business based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Many of the ingredients that I use in my spice blends and herbal elixirs (like my cough syrups) are sourced from my backyard garden. My Black-Owned + Black-Grown business has successfully combined my love for cooking and gardening into a platform that inspires beautiful people who look like me to go outside and proudly interact with nature. Gardening is truly revolutionary, especially when black and brown hands are sticking their hands in the soil, planting seeds, harvesting food fresh from the vine, and implementing traditional methods to cultivate a healthy, organic way of living for their friends and families. As a creative entrepreneur in the culinary and garden world, I pride myself in constructing my days around my Spyce Shop orders, my families, and my personal needs to realign spiritually, mentally, or physically.
